Agapia Convent

Location: Agapia commune, Neamţ County.

Abstract: Mănăstirea Agapia is a convent for nuns (mănăstire de maici) founded in 1642-1647 by Hetman Gavriil Coci, Vasile Lupu's brother. The paintings in the church were made by the painter Nicolae Grigorescu between 1858 and 1861.

In the same commune, there's also a monastery I didn't visit: Agapia Nouă (New Agapia), a convent for nuns founded between 1642-1647 by Lady Elena, the wife of Petru Rareş. Its dedication: 6 August ("The Transfiguration" day).

Dedication: 8 November ("The Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel" day).
