Nicula Monastery
judetul Cluj

Location: Nicula village, Cluj County

Abstract: Mănăstirea Nicula is a monastery for monks (mănăstire de călugări) mentioned in 1552. It was burned down and restored several times (last time was in 1973 when the bell of 1696 also burned). The present wooden church (built in 1770), was brought from Top village and is in the Maramureş (Maramures) style with a steeple over the pronaos. It contains a museum with icons on wood and glass, including "The Mother of the Lord with the Infant," a miracle-working icon created in 1681 by Luca of Iclodul Mare. Faithful believers make pilgrimages on dedication day and on 8 September.

Dedication: 15 August ("Assumption of the Virgin" day).
