Poiana Braşov
judetul Braşov
At 1030 m (3,380 ft), Poiana Braşov is Romania's premier ski resort. In the winter, hordes of youthful tour groups from Western Europe head for the slopes of the Postăvarul (Postavarul) Massif (1802 m or 5,912 ft) in the southern Carpathians for a cheap ski holiday.
Though it offers few challenges for advanced skiers, those with less skill will find plenty of slopes to master. And even if you don't like to ski, the resort is well-known as a winter party town.
Of course, I was there in the summer and it was 30° C (about 85° F), so there was no skiing going on. However, it was a beautiful, lush green valley, surrounded by towering mountains. So I didn't mind.
