Table of Contents

Here's a Table of Contents for your convenience. See the individual Sections for a brief description of the documents found within that Section.

Note

I'll be releasing these documents of Romanian culture as I write them, so you might find that there's an abrupt "end" to the pages available. Please forgive me if I release the documents too slowly for your taste.

Section 1. Environment. In this section you'll find lots of stuff about the country itself, including the geography of the country such as the beautiful Carpathian Mountains and the area around the Danube Delta.

Section 2. Ethnic Makeup. Romania has been conquered by many other countries. Each time a greater ethnic cross-section of people was left behind.

Section 3. Arts and Literature. A country of simple people has produced a surprising number of people who excel in the arts - literature, poetry, painting. This Section contains some of their stories.

Section 4. Government. Romania has seen quite a sample of different kinds of government — from the dictatorial reign of Prince Vlad Ţepeş (Dracula) to the Communist era that ended with the cruel reign of Nicolae Ceaşescu in 1989.

Section 5. Religion. To really know the people of Romania, you have to understand something of their religious beliefs, especially with the dominant Orthodox beliefs.

Section 6. Traditions. Besides developing an appreciation for Romania's predominantly Orthodox religion, you have to understand something of their holidays and traditions (often associated with their religious beliefs).

Each Section presents an overview of its particular subject matter.
