Roadside Album
This photo album contains miscellaneous photos of roadside scenery as we traveled during my June-July 2004 vacation in Romania. As mentioned in the Burrow's Photo 2004 Section, I'm embarrassed to show many of these photos. Many are blurry, hazy, grainy, and so on. But here they are.

Topics covered in this photo album (listed in alphabetic order):
- Houses and Villas
(32 photos)
In urban areas (see below), the predominant housing comes in the form of communist-era apartments. But in the countryside and in some urban neighborhoods, a large variety of houses and villas can be found. These photos are just a small sampling of the variety I saw. - Mountains, Lakes, and
Streams
(77 photos)
With more than a third of the country being mountainous, there's no shortage of scenic areas just waiting to be photographed. These are some of the photos I took as we drove through the mountains. Many of these are the worst of the fuzzy pictures as Elena (the driver) swerved back and forth on the curves up and down the mountainsides. Some day I hope to spend more time photographing this gorgeous resource. - Public Transportation
(13 photos)
Public transportation has a long way to go before it catches up with the rest of the European community. But communist ideology left its rusty, broken-down mark on this sector of the country. - Rural Life
(45 photos)
The communists tried very hard to industrialize Romania. They weren't very successful and a very large portion of Romania remains in its rural setting. - Urban Life
(26 photos)
Every urban center in Romania contains an unmistakable remnant of the communist era (1965-1989) ... the dull, drab, poorly constructed, ugly cement block apartment buildings. They're everywhere. Many of them are shown in these photos, along with some of the more pleasant aspects of urban life. - Other Miscellaneous
(16 photos)
You know what these are ... photos that didn't fit into any of the other categories I established.
